Ancien élève de l'École Normale Supérieure (Paris), Yann Tholoniat est professeur des universités. Sa thèse de doctorat portait sur Robert Browning et son habilitation à diriger des recherches sur Robert Burns.
Spécialiste de la littérature et des arts britanniques et irlandais, du romantisme au modernisme, ses recherches portent aussi bien sur la poésie que le théâtre et le roman, considérés selon les perspectives suivantes: l'oralité dans l'écrit, les poétiques du rythme, les formes de l'humour, l'écocritique, ou encore la mise en scène du corps.
Un autre aspect de sa recherche consiste à explorer différents domaines artistiques (peinture, sculpture, photographie et cinéma) selon différents éclairages (intermédialité, études animales...)

A graduate of the École Normale Supérieure (Paris), Yann Tholoniat is a university professor. His doctoral thesis focused on Robert Browning, and his habilitation thesis (HDR) was on Robert Burns.
A specialist in British and Irish literature and arts, from Romanticism to Modernism, his research encompasses poetry, theater, and novel, considered from the following perspectives: orality in writing, the poetics of rhythm, forms of humor, ecocriticism, and the staging of the body.
Another aspect of his research involves exploring various artistic fields (painting, sculpture, photography, and film) from different perspectives (intermediality, animal studies, etc.).
